Light In Winter 2011
Federation Square’s annual Light In Winter festival brings together both local and international designers, artists and ethnic communities with a variety of light-based pieces.
This year the common theme across the event is Fire. To symbolise this, an indigenous fire pit will come alight at the start of the event and its extinguishing will signify the end.
This free winter celebration hosts a series of events and forums for Melbourne community including; campfire singing, basket weaving, gum leaf playing and a mid-winter Solstice Celebration.
RAFT had to build on the success of the 2010 event, positioning the celebration as a highlight in Melbourne’s Winter Calendar. With reference to Fire, RAFT had to promote the event and encourage participation in the free program of events.
The event runs from 2 June – 3 July
